The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) St. Petersburg Coastal and Marine Science Center is part of one of the largest marine science communities in the nation. Our Center is staffed with geologists, oceanographers, microbiologists, ecologists, bio-geochemists, geographic information system (GIS) specialists, and scientific and administrative support staff who conduct research globally. Scientific field work is uncovering information and trends regarding coastal vulnerability to extreme storms, coral reef health, and impacts of climate and environmental change such as sea-level rise and ocean acidification in the Gulf of Mexico, Florida, the Caribbean and western Atlantic region, and the Arctic Ocean.
The St. Petersburg Coastal and Marine Science Center houses a collection of more than 900 educator resources suitable for use by K-12 students as well as college level students. Visit http://coastal.er.usgs.gov/education-outreach/inhouse-resources.html
